از سال 1856 تا شروع جنگ در 1861 به عنوان نماینده در انجمن مبارزه با برده داری ایالت متحده مشغول به فعالیت بود.
در سال 1888 انجمن بین المللی زنان ودر سال 1904 اتحادیه ی حق رأی برای زنان را تأسیس کرد

او رئیس انجمن بین المللی حق رأی زنان آمریکا بود.تلاشها وزحمات او منجر به حق رأی زنان در انتخابات گردید.
از آنجا که از محدودیت حقوق زنان به ستوه آمده بود ،در تأسیس مؤسسه ی زنان در شهر نیویورک که اولین مؤسسه در نوع خود بود
تلاشهای بسیاری نمود.

سوزان آنتونی را به عنوان یکی از پیشگامان جنبش آزادی وبرابری حقوق زنان می شناسند
.
هاریت تابمن
هاریت تابمن که از همان بدو تولد در مریلند آمریکا یک برده بود آرزو داشت آزاد باشد .
در سال 1849 از طریق قطار زیر زمینی به پنسیلوانیا گریخت بعد از آن نوزده بار دیگر از طریق همین مسیر مراجعت کرد تا سیصد برده ی دیگر را به همراه خود فراری دهد.
بعد از گذشت سالیان مردمش اورا موسی زمان خود خطاب می کردند که انسانهای زیادی رااز بردگی به سرزمینهای آزاد برده است.
در خلال جنگهای داخلی در ارتش ملی به عنوان یک پرستار و نیز یک جاسوس خدمت کرد .
بعد از جنگ به جمع آوری اعانه های مردمی برای بردگان مدریه ساخت.
اوبسیار تلاش کرد تا به زنان نیز حق رای داده شود ودر سال 1903 موسساتی برای حمایت از تنگدستان و بی سرپرستان تاسیس کرد .
هاریت تابمن یک قهرمان آمریکایی و نیز بشر دوستی کم نظیر بود.
